OT and PT staff was excellent dispite working in a uncommunicative facility. It is an older facility which was the least of its problems. With the exception of one or two nurses and 1 CNA the care was horrible. First the nurse button didn't work so even when she pressed it no one came because it didn't wor\k.

The facility would not provide transportation which made it very complicated. In addition, my mother has significant other health issues and is on a great deal of medication. The staff didn't seem to listen to her whenever my Mother tried to explain why she was on various medications and what the reasoning was for her dosages. The last problem was that when she was released on a Friday, she was sent home with a prescription for a painkiller that was impossible to find at any local pharmacy. My Mom was at Manor Care/PC a couple of years ago.
We like the porch areas that my father now has. They have a more extensive activities calendar. They have concerts, buses to the nearby stores, bingo. On their newsletter, they have celebrations for birthdays of staff and the residents.

My mom was 85 and my mom would be much comfortable with the washer and dryer inside the apartment. However, they offered a lot of stuff too. They offered a lot of activities and there was a pharmacy in there. I thought there was a doctor and that came in so many times a week. I just wasn't where my mom wanted to go, but I would recommend them to others. My visit to Forwood Manor was good, but it did not have cottages, only apartments.
Of all the facilities I looked at, it was by far the best. It’s like a beautiful apartment, you really didn’t hospital feeling or facility feeling, it’s like a country club. The dining facility was fantastic with a 4 or 5 star chef. They had a broad tray that you choose and eat a little bit. They had food for families who will be visiting. One of the things I like was that they have a garden, and they do gardening with the results.
The therapists who work with her have been very caring people and pleasant to work with. She has a good relationship with them, so that part is very good. She is sharing a room that's kind of crumby. Forwood Manor suffers from a lack of communication. When my friend wasn't admitted there, they didn't even call me back. I was thinking that he was in and I even had the check ready, but no one called back. They need to improve on their communication. You must talk to tentative clients, because if you don't, you'll leave them hanging and that's what happened to me. Sure the place looked good and was nice-looking, but all that glitters is not gold.

Forwood Manor is a full service, continuing care rental retirement community. We have 140 independent living apartments, 37 assisted living suites, and a 72-bed health care center for rehabilitative skilled nursing on-site. The apartments operate on rental basis - no endowment or purchase required. My mother was in Forwood Manor for rehabilitation. They have independent living and regular senior living. I was not happy with their physical therapy team.
There were people in the hall in wheelchairs. My friend had a trainer that was coming, she was going for exercises, and her doctor came to see her frequently. Another new facility which is just up the road will have independent living, assisted living, and memory care but no nursing.
His room was not good either; it was always dirty. The dining area was just a big open room, and they didn't even have TVs in the rooms. The hallways were maintained, but the rooms weren't. It took a long time for the nurses to react to you when they pulled the bell. Half the time the bell was not even near the patient, and sometimes it was put away in a drawer. Every time I went there my boyfriend was lying in bed.
